Personal Creation

At 4th level, an artificer builds a construct using a bit of his very soul, infusing it with life. This creation of his is completely loyal to the artificer and will defend him at all costs. These constructs are disabled at 0 hit points, like other constructs, and are not killed unless destroyed. The personal creation’s appearance is up to the artificer, but it is made of metal, wood, and other materials.

Each personal creation has one of four base forms that determines its starting size, speed, AC, attacks, and ability scores. All natural attacks are made using the creation’s full base attack bonus unless otherwise noted (such as in the case of secondary attacks). Personal creation attacks add the creation’s Strength modifier to the damage roll, unless it is its only attack, in which case it adds 1-1/2 times its Strength modifier. These base forms also note any free upgrades that base form possesses. The bonuses from these free upgrades are already factored into the starting statistics.

Each personal creation receives a number of upgrade points that can be spent to give the creation new abilities, powers, and other upgrades. These abilities, called upgrades, can be changed whenever the artificer gains a new level, but they are otherwise set. Some upgrades require that the creation have a specific base form or the artificer be of a specific level before they can be chosen. A number of upgrades grant the creation additional natural attacks. Natural attacks listed as primary are made using the creation’s full base attack bonus and add the creation’s Strength modifier on damage rolls. Natural attacks listed as secondary are made using the creation’s base attack bonus – 5 and add 1/2 the eidolon’s Strength modifier on damage rolls (if positive). If the personal creation only has a single natural attack, the attack is made using its full base attack bonus and it adds 1-1/2 times its Strength modifier on damage rolls made with that attack, regardless of the attack’s type.

Upgrades are grouped by their cost in upgrade points. Upgrade points cannot be saved. All of the points must be spent whenever the summoner gains a level. Unless otherwise noted, each upgrade can only be selected once, and each upgrade corresponds to the eidolon evolution of the same name.
